Dear Social Work Colleague:

 

I am writing as a member of CNSW from Winston Salem.  I am also now serving as the state Legislative Chair for the CNSW Chapter.  Due to continuous conversations regarding issues such as state kidney program funding, issues with licensure, access to information and resources, our chapter created a position of legislative chair.  The responsibilities of this position are to monitor current legislation that impacts practice, be a liaison to NASW and act as a conduit of information.

 

I serve in several capacities with NASW as a volunteer.  These include membership on the committee that creates the legislative agenda for NASW.  This committee makes endorsements of political candidates for state offices based on their views of social work concerns.  I am also the Federal Legislative Liaison to the national office of NASW for the state chapter.  In this position I monitor federal legislation important to social work practice and pass information to the state via a website.  With this said, I feel that integrating renal issues into this work is the natural next step.  The address of that website mentioned above is: https://members.tripod.com/Legislative_Project

 

I am writing to ask for your assistance.  In order for me to advocate and stay current with the issues that are most important to the membership I have created a brief survey.  I have created a basic website, http://nccnsw.tripod.com that I hope will serve as a depository of information for the membership as well.  If there are issues you want to know about let me know.  Again this is a new endeavor and I am asking for your help in making it successful as well as useful.  You may, if you wish, fax your completed survey to my attention at the address below.  Please contact me directly with questions.
